A Wife With Time
A Wife With Time |
Edward's in the basement working
On the furnace now. Our house
Is cold, not what it used to be.
But still I'm just as satisfied
To have the rooms be cold these days.
And now, with Steven married out
In California, I've got time.
It's not just children makes a home,
I've always said, but several things.
And I've got things all waiting.
Mother's silver's tarnishing
And Samson needs new bones;
He's gotten all the others lost
And with the way his eyes are now
He needs my help. I don't mind
But Edward says he's just gone bad
And wants to get a newer one. He says
We should have a dog with teeth
That doesn't dirty up the house.
But he's just mad his heart's so weak.
Dr. Andrews told him not to smoke
But he still does, so I pretend
It's just the furnace when he goes.
And I don't mind with all my time
Since some day it won't fix so fast
And then I'll get myself a newer one.
