Ross -

One additional thing I forgot to ask - are you using the 5/10GB tapes or the 
3.3/6.6GB tapes?  I have the 5/10GB tapes.  Several posts I have seen 
elsewhere report numerous problems with the 5/10 tapes (seek errors / 
shoeshining / breakage), which have been somewhat (SOMEWHAT) corrected with 
switching to 3.3/6.6GB tapes.  One site reported (unconfirmed) that Sony has 
been swapping 3.3/6.6 tapes for 5/10 tapes one for one, but obviously that is 
not the same storage capability.  The customer - us - still loses.
