    Founded this Unix/Networking company specializing in Information Security (InfoSec). Client projects have included firewall/VPN installation/administration, router configuration and ACL development, security auditing, penetration testing, incident forensics, remote administration, network design/implementation, system/network restructuring, system installation/upgrade, disaster recovery, disaster recovery planning, programming and general problem resolution.
     
  • HITTER COMMUNICATIONS, May 2000 - October 2000

  • Senior Unix Systems Administrator
    Supervising a staff of 10 administrators, I was responsibile for the Unix and network administration of primarily FreeBSD Unix systems and Cisco networking equipment. We provided basic internet services such as connectivity, monitoring, email and website hosting. Hitter Communications was a multihomed, regional ISP and website hosting company.

  • Senior Systems Architect
    Primary responsibility for the software testing and release cycle of SageWave, the client component of the company's primary product. Additional senior level responsibilities were for Unix systems administration, WAN management, Internet security, remote access, network monitoring and DNS administration. SageMaker, (subsequently acquired by Divine), was an Enterprise Information Portal (EIP) company with a focus on the oil, gas and energy industries.
     
  • IBM GLOBAL SERVICES, January 1997 - November 1998

  • Unix Systems Administrator - Security Specialist
    As a senior level technician, I performed advisory and hands-on roles in network architecture, risk analysis, security policies, security auditing and intrusion detection. I also administered DNS (set up and was hostmaster to southbury.ibm.com on IBM's Intranet and the Internet), sendmail  (designed email architecture for IBM Content Hosting Services), firewalls (designed and configured firewalls for both IBM internal and commercial use), Cisco routers  (wrote and maintained the security ACLs for IBM Content Hosting Services as well as commercial customers)  and webservers (designed secure server and electronic commerce systems for both IBM internal  (ie. ShopIBM) and commercial accounts (ie. ASD). Additionally, I provided fourth level technical support (and there are officially only three) as needed.
     
  • JABIL CIRCUIT, INC., November 1995 - January 1997

  • Corporate Unix Systems Administrator
    Primary systems/network responsibility for multi-vendor Unices across a heterogenous, international WAN. Duties consisted of research, development, implementation, policies, documentation and highest level technical support for the local IT departments of seven manufacturing facilities worldwide. Sole responsibility for design and administration of firewalls, both Internet and Extranet. Jabil is the third largest contract manufacturer of circuit board assemblies in the world, manufacturering, among other things, most of Cisco's product.

  • Sole Proprietor
    An e-commerce billiard supply store with secure online credit card transactions beginning in June of 1996. I designed, built, and configured the website as an e-commerce proof of concept at a time when credit card processing companies were saying it couldn't be done. It was the first billiard supply outlet on the Internet and the first to offer secure online ordering as well. Sales were still more than doubleing each year at the time of it's sale.
     
  • ADVANTIS - IBM GLOBAL NETWORK, March 1995 - June 1995

  • Systems Engineer
    Contracted on the 1NET project, integrating the two distinct SNA networks, Advantis North (Sears heritage) and Advantis South (IBM heritage) into the world's largest single SNA network. Technical support role for larger, dual-attached customers with emphasis on load-balancing, traffic-splitting and APPN/LEN connectivity.

    Full systems and networking responsibility for an international wholesale billiard supply distributorship. Administration of terminals/servers and UUCP networking in a SCO Unix environment. Development, documentation and training.

  • Vice President
    Fifty percent partner in a thirty-five table billiard parlor with bar, game room and pro-shop. Primary areas of effort in personnel, advertising and promotion, security and controls. Provided Internet connectivity and installed a TCP/IP network behind a Unix firewall. Installed and configured a remotely viewable security camera system. Wrote POS task management and billiard league management software.
